Network Rebranding

A network rebranding for the Syfy Channel based on the concept of magic and endless possibilities. Outlines were made in Illustrator and animated in After Effects. Magic Cards were animated using shape animation.

Rhapsody in Blue

Using music from the 1950s or earlier, we were responsible for creating a shape layer animation sequence in After Effects using 15 seconds of the audio we had selected.

2D Animation

Project was to learn how to animate using After Effects with only the provided audio clips and Illustrator shape files. Three 5 second clips were generated for this assignment. One clip could only use one shape while the other two had no limits.

Projection Mapping

Projection Mapping was an extra course in the Motion Media courses that allowed students to study the use of animation and projections in instillation art. Video art was a huge point of study as students were taught how to take pre-existing footage and create a whole new purpose and meaning through editing in After Effects.

The main focus of this course was to produce work that would be showcased in a student showcase at the end of the quarter for one night. This show included a live VJ (Video DJ) performance done the night of the event.

MAXIMAL (Student Showcase)

The student showcase titled “MAXIMAL” featured all of the student works that were produced throughout the quarter. Each student had three pieces on display that night and were the following: a video art project, a projection mapped instillation piece, and the VJ live performance.

For the projection mapped instillation piece, I choose to construct a large book with open pages that begin as a calm story and gradually turn into an overwhelming nightmare. The piece was to showcase the sudden changes that can happen in one’s life in which one no longer has control of the situation.
